This year marks the eighth round of the Doernbecher Freestyle program instigated by Nike, and the Air Jordan IV Doernbecher is attracting much attention. Rightfully so, designer Isiah Scott has pushed the boundaries with his courageous use of color schemes—black, Old Royal, Electric Green and white—yet it certainly works. Etched arrow patterns wrap around the sneakers and Isiah finishes it off by placing the Superman logo on the tongue, replacing the Jumpman logo.

The retro concept that exists in the sneaker world is great for a whole number of reasons. For one thing it lets the sneaker fans relive some of their favorite memories from the past by getting to wear the shoes that are probably dirty or falling apart by this point, but all brand new again. Another great thing about it is that a shoe that might not have sold all that well when it was first released can be looked at in a whole new light once it gets released again as a retro and be fully appreciated. Today we are going to be looking at an example of that, this is the new Air Jordan XIV in Light Graphite, Midnight Navy and Black. This shoe has really started to pick up some steam ever since it became a retro. This colorway seems to work really for the shoe too.

If any of you can remember when Michael Jordan first hosted Saturday Night Live back in September of 1991, you’d know that Bill Swerski and his Superfriends displayed a level of sports-centric clairvoyance. Although this sneaker does come in a ‘Stealth’ colorway, we’ve never seen an Air Jordan III retro fly under the radar. Taking a look back at the various Air Jordan III models released this year alone, each has sold out with the quickness and we’d be surprised if this one didn’t follow suit. The Air Jordan III ‘Stealth’ comes off looking like a mash-up between the Cool Grey and Black/Cement editions of the same sneaker, mixing the best of both worlds to come out with a brand new look. These are just around the corner with a September 3rd release date, so be on the lookout for them at your local Jordan Brand retailer.
